Organization Description
| Mission statement | My goal for students is for them to become liberated, interdependent, creative, thinker-doer-makers. I am inspired by Jacques Lecoq’s notion of the “Actor-Creator”, an adaptive artist who can fulfill many executional roles, but who is also more than the roles they play, an autonomous and perceptive agent in their environment, whatever that environment may be. To foster these thinker-doer-makers, I facilitate student experiences in improvisation, creative writing, and collaborative creation through a consent-based, trauma-informed, culturally responsive lens. I believe education can be a powerful tool of liberation and equity, but also oppression and inequity. Therefore, teachers must have a clear and well-developed analysis of their positional power and actively foster liberation. I do this through a pedagogy that emphasizes student choice and voice, harm reduction, and play. |
