Organization Details

Organization Description

Mission statementHugo House provides people with a place to read words, hear words, and make their own words better.
Service(s) descriptionWe offer a wide variety of creative writing programs that provide youth the opportunity to learn from published writers and teaching artists. This includes weekly drop-in writing circles, weekend workshops, open mic nights, year-long cohorts, summer camps, and an annual publication of youth writing made for youth by youth.
Program impactOur programs are open to all youth who love to write! Program participants will learn from published and experienced writers while also meeting other young writers who share their passions. Each year, hundreds of students in Kindergarten through 12th grade generate new work in our writing programs, submit to our annual literary journal for publication, and take the stage at our open mic events. Come join us!

Community programs are organized into categories known as Community School Elements. All community programs associated with Hugo House are listed below and each program may be provided at 1 or more schools. You can use the 'Show Details' buttons to learn more about each program.
