Organization Description

Mission statementThaddeus Jurczynski is a sculptor and celebration artist. He makes giant puppets for parades and also works on commission. He has a large Chinese Dragon Puppet on permanent display at the Port Townsend City Library and his six foot tall glowing anchor is featured in Port Townsend’s annual First Night celebration. Jurczynski is a certified teacher and enjoys presenting art and science enrichment workshops and residencies. He has presented artist in residency programs throughout Puget Sound and has been to Taiwan twice as a celebration artist to work on the annual Dream Community parade. He also enjoys creating props and puppets for local theatrical productions. My primary medium is reed and bamboo sculpture. This is such a versatile medium and can be used to craft so many things. There is also a lot of visualization and engineering involved, especially if it is for a stage or parade puppet. My work and more student work can be viewed on my website. In addition to this roster, I’m also listed with Bainbridge Arts & Humanities, Shoreline LFP Arts Council, Edmonds, and the Washington State Arts Commission. In addition, I frequently work with libraries, local theater, community groups, and the YMCA.
