Organization Description

Mission statementRed Eagle Soaring is a Seattle based nonprofit 501(c)(3) ensuring youth access to Native arts and culture; our mission is “to empower American Indian and Alaska Native youth to express themselves with confidence and clarity through traditional and contemporary performing arts.” Our year-round programming is always free and includes a touring spring musical; summer theatre residencies in tribal communities; a two-week performing arts camp held at Daybreak Star Indian Cultural Center in Seattle’s Discovery Park; and in-school, after-school, and out-of-school theatre programs during the academic year. In bringing together youth to learn not just about the technical aspects and process of theatre, but also to build a community of people interested in learning about and sharing Native artistic traditions, Red Eagle Soaring is empowering youth to express themselves, take creative action on the issues that affect their lives, and sustain their cultural heritage – and promoting a broader understanding of Native arts, culture, and knowledge systems.
Service(s) descriptionTheater, Multidisciplinary: Traditional Native American singing, drumming, dancing, storytelling, and visual arts integrated with contemporary theatre and performing arts (music, dance, drama, spoken word).
